The Mill Ave Chamber Players, ensemble-in-residence at Phoenix College, will be holding a free concert this Friday at 7:00pm in Sessions Recital Hall (M Building). This season the ensemble is celebrating its tenth anniversary and addition to being in residence at Phoenix College, the ensemble is 2017 nominee for the City of Phoenix Mayor's Arts Awards and 2016 for the Governor's Arts Awards.
This season’s theme is Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue, with each of their series concerts having a staple work of the woodwind quintet repertoire, a commissioned work, a transcription (a work stolen from another instrument or group of instruments!), and something blue. For this Friday's concert, the ensemble will perform Gyorgy Ligeti's Six Bagatelles, the Quartet in F Major by Maurice Ravel, transcribed by Monica Anthony, and the premiere of Impressions for Woodwind Quintet by Thomas Breadon.
